Cups and Balls -

This is a classic of magic and performed by many close up magicians. The cups and balls magic trick is the oldest recorded close up magic trick and dates back to over 2500 BC. Today it is bought up to date and you will now see close up magicians for this trick with cups as divers as Aluminium cups, tea cups some of the street cloese up magicians use even Pringles tubes. In the past the cups and balls was used as a confidence trick to scam people out of money, where the spectators used to bet on which up the ball would be under. Nowadays close up magicians use sleight of hand to make the balls vanish, appear, transpose, multiply, change colour and even turn into tennis balls are fruit like apples and oranges! A former world champion close up magician even made 3 little live chicks appear under the cups.

Ambitious Card Trick -

The Ambitious Card trick is a favorite card trick for many close up magicians. The reason for this is its versitility and its ability to be performed in almost any environment whilst it being flexible enough for all close up magicians to put their own mark on it. The basic effect of this close up trick is that a playing card is selected and signed by a specator and returned to the pack. Using sleight of hand techniques the close up magicians will make the card magicially jump from the middle of the pack jump to the top of the pack without the specators seeing how the card just moved from one place to another. There are so many variations of this close up magic trick, that you may see a card suddenly and magically change to the signed card, the signed card may vanish and appear in a sealed envelope or wallet. You may even witness the close up magicians turn the whole pack of card to a solid block of glass! Some of the worlds greatest magicians have added their touch to this famous card trick.

Coin tricks -

Close up magicians love coin tricks due to the fact that they can have a magic trick in their pocket ready to show at any time. The coin tricks you may see a professional close up magician perform are a coins across routine. This is where the close up magician may have 3 or 4 coins in their hands and they instantly vanish from one hand only to reappear in the other, this may also happen in the hands of the spectators or on a table where the trick is known as a coin matrix trick. You may also see the close up magicians, perform skillfull flourishes with coin as a demonstration of sleight of hand, this may be a coin roll where the coin roll down the knuckles of the fingers like you may have seen on a hollywood movie. A close up magician may do other coin effects, like vanishing a coin and making it appear under the watch on the spectator or penetrate the coin through a glass bottle.

Sponge Ball magic-

Originally made famous by close up magician Albert Goshman but over the last 30 years has become a staple of many magicians, due to its interactivity with the audience. The close up magicians will make sponge balls vanish only to appear in the hands of the spectators. Highly skilled close up magicians will use this effect as misdirection to enable the magician cover so they can steal the spectators watch. Of course they always give the watch back!
